Prep Time: 20 minutes Cook Time: 2 hours for sauce, 40-60 minutes for meatballs
One of our favorite comfort foods is a plate of hot spaghetti, an delicious sauce, and large, round homemade meatballs.
8 cups diced tomatoes 1/4 cup chopped basil, fresh I onion, large, minced 3 cloves minced garlic 1/2 cup olive oil salt and pepper to taste
Place tomatoes and basil in pan and cook on medium heat until tomatoes have softened.
While the tomatoes are cooking, saute onions and garlic in olive oil until translucent. Salt and pepper to taste and simmer on low for a couple of hours.
1 1/2 lb ground beef 1 cup fine bread crumbs 1/2 cup milk salt and pepper
Mix ground beef with bread crumbs, milk and salt and pepper. Roll into large meatballs. (Should make about 10 -12.
Brown meatballs on all sides in a skillet, on medium heat, turning often to cook all the way through. You may also add the pasta sauce at the end to simmer the meatballs for a few minutes in the sauce before serving.
