1 c butter, softened 3 c all purpose flour 1/2 c sugar 1/2 tsp baking powder 1 egg 1 to 1 1/2 C finely chopped nuts 1 tbsp vanilla Jelly, Jam or preserves
Heat oven to 375 degrees F. In large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; mix well.
Spoon flour into measuring cup level off. Add flour and baking powder; mix until dough forms. Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Roll in nuts.
Arrange balls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Using finger or tip of wooden spoon, make a deep indentation in center of each ball. Fill each with heaping 1/4 tsp jam.
Bake at 375 F for 10 15 min. or until light brown Cool on wire rack makes 4 dozen cookies.
