1 (16oz) box of Quaker Oat Squares cereal 2 cups pecan halves or large pieces 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar 1/2 cup light corn syrup 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter or oleo 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 teaspoon baking soda
Instructions
Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Combine oat squares and pecans in a 9 x 13 pan and set aside. Combine sugar, syrup and butter in a saucepan and heat to a boil over medium heat. Remove from heat and add vanilla and baking soda. Pour over cereal and pecans and stir to coat evenly. Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15-20 minutes. Spread evenly on a baking sheet to cool. Break into pieces if needed and store in an airtight container. Makes 10 cups.
Karen says: The picture is a double batch. Also, this cereal comes in various flavors. I've used Cinnamon and today I'm using maple flavor.
