2 1/2 c butter 2 1/2 c sugar 2 large eggs 1/2 t almond extract 5 drops red food coloring 5 c flour 1/4 t salt 2/3 c finely crushed cherry candy canes 2 c semi sweet chocolate chips 1 c coarse chopped cherry candy canes
Heat oven to 350.
Grease two 13 x 9 pan.
Cream butter and sugar, add eggs, extract and coloring; add flour and salt, add finely crushed canes.
Spread in pan, bake 25 min until firm; immediately upon taking from oven sprinkle each pan with 1 cup chocolate chips.
Cover pans with cookie sheet or foil for 1 minute to melt chocolate; spread chocolate over top, sprinkle with coarse chopped candy canes.
