This holiday recipe is a traditional baking treasure that has been passed down to my dearest friend from her mother. It makes 1 or 2 loaves (depending on the size of your loaf pans)
1 cup margarine 2 cups sugar 3 eggs 3 cups flour 1 ½ tsp baking powder ¼ tsp salt 1 cup warm milk 1 tsp vanilla 1 tsp lemon extract 1 cup cut up baking gum drops
Cream margarine and sugar together. Beat well.
Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well.
Add dry ingredients, alternating with milk.
Add vanilla and lemon extract.
Add cut up gum-drops.
Put into greased loaf pans. Bake at 350F until toothpick comes out clean.
