Prep Time: 15 minutes Cook Time: 15-20 minutes
For as far back as I can remember, and for generations prior to that — shortbread cookies made from the recipe found on the Canada cornstarch box has been a must-bake for the holiday season.
Mix together:
1 cup of flour 1/2 cup corn starch 1/2 cup confectioner's sugar 3/4 cup butter *I add 1 tsp vanilla
Roll dough into inch sized balls.
Flatten with a fork on an ungreased cookie sheet and decorate with candied cherries or nuts before baking for 15-20 min at 300.
Cookies should not brown on the edges. Let sit for a few minutes before lifting from the baking sheet. These store very well.
