I've seen this replicated elsewhere in different portions, but I first discovered it in an old church cookbook out of mid-Tennessee. I love it. It's great just sprinkled on top of regular green salads as well. It was originally designed to be an alternative for "Salad Supreme Seasoning"
Ingredients:
4 tbsp Parmesan cheese ½ tsp black pepper ½ tsp garlic powder 1 tsp celery seed 1 tsp poppy seed 1 ½ tsp salt 2 tsp paprika 3 tsp sesame seeds dash cayenne (I omit this) dried parsley flakes (optional)
Mix all ingredients, and store in a container, in the fridge.
One recipe is equal to one jar of Salad Supreme if you are going to use it in a recipe.
If you are on a low salt diet, feel free to change the recipe to suit your needs, or adjust to your personal taste.
To use it for a pasta salad include 3 tbsp on the mix with 1 pound (dry) of cooked pasta and either 3 tbsp oil or mayonnaise if you prefer your pasta salad creamy.
