October is here and its Caramel Apple season. This recipe is quick and easy, as well as inexpensive. The caramel sauce creates itself as it cooks.
Ingredients
1 1/2 cup biscuit baking mix (eg: Bisquick) 1/2 cup milk 2/3 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar 1/2 tsp cinnamon chopped walnuts (optional) 1 cup hot water 2 apples peeled and cut into slices 1 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions
Combine sugar and baking mix together. Add in milk and mix well. Spread batter evenly in the bottom of a prepared pan (9x9 baking pan or 9 inch glass pie plate)
Arrange apple slices on top of batter. Sprinkle with the lemon juice.
Combine brown sugar and cinnamon together (and walnuts if desired) and sprinkle on top of apples).
Pour hot water over top. Do not stir!
Bake for 50-60 minutes in 350F oven. The caramel sauce will form on the bottom and the cobbler/cake portion will be on top.
