Homemade Pancake Syrup
|
While raising my son, we often didn't have the money for 'extras' in the middle of the month, and "extras" included such things as pancake syrup. Thankfully, I had a very dear friend who had been in the same boat and learned to make her own.
Sure its easier at times to buy something ready made off the store shelf, but when you make a recipe from scratch, there's always love included in the ingredient list, and that makes whatever you're making extra special when it comes to serving time. Homemade Pancake Syrup
1 cup brown sugar 1 cup white sugar 1 cup water 1/2 tsp. maple flavoring 1/2 tsp. vanilla flavoring Combine sugars and water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil on high heat. Once boiling, stir for 2 minutes as it continues to boil. After 2 minutes, remove from heat and add flavorings. Yields 2 cups syrup. Note: Mom's Pantry friend Fonda suggests adding a few tablespoons of corn syrup to keep the sugar from crystallizing. |
