Tale of Two Marinades -- Zesty and Zip
Our local food flyers were filled with great deals on pork this week. I found a large package of seven full sized pork steaks for $4.25. I quickly grabbed them and put them in the cart.
It's been hot here, so we decided to try a couple of new marinades in advance of grilling them. We used three of the seven, dividing them each in half so we could have a taste of each version. Hands down, the Pineapple marinade won with its very zesty flavoring.
Although the Jamaican version was well received, it lacked the punch that the fruity version had. I suppose it could be the fact we left out the hot sauce. We used fresh thyme and a hot pepper from our garden which brought an added touch of pride to our dinner table.
I've got 4 large pork steaks left in the fridge awaiting a new recipe I'm going to give a go to tonight. Stay tuned for the results and details.
