Nana's Surprise Strawberry Jam
4 cups tomatoes, peeled 4 cups sugar 4 tablespoons lemon juice 1- 6 oz. package strawberry jello
Boil tomatoes sugar and lemon juice for 20 minutes. Mash the tomato mixture with a potato masher while it is cooking. Remove from heat,add jello blend well.
Pour into jars and seal..
You can make other flavors by using yellow tomato's and using peach or pineapple flavored jello.
I won a Blue Ribbon with this recipe at our county fair.
I love the look on peoples faces when they taste it and then you tell them it is made with tomatoes. They can't believe it.
