Because of the substitution of almond flour for regular flour, this recipe is super low in carbs, and has only 5-7 carbs a serving depending on the the size of your portions. Add a green salad and you've got a great meal.
(This was calculated without the addition of pickles and tomatoes)
Ingredients
1 pound lean hamburger 1 medium onion chopped 1/2 cup almond flour 1 cup milk 1/2 tsp dry mustard 1/2 tsp pepper dash salt 2 eggs, beaten 1 pkg onion soup mix * 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese sliced pickles and tomatoes (optional)
Brown hamburger and onion in skillet. Drain. Add onion soup mix with 1/2 of the cheese and press into the bottom of a glass pie plate.
Cover with remaining cheese.
Pour almond flour into a bowl. Add milk 1/2 a cup at a time and mix well. Add spices and eggs, mixing until well blended.
Pour the milk mixture over top of the hamburger and cheese layers. Do not mix.
Bake at 375F for 30 minutes. 10 minutes before the time is up you may add the slices of tomato and pickles to the top of the pie if desired.
Most important step: Remove pie from the oven and allow it to sit for 10-15 minutes before serving. If you are impatient and serve too quickly the pie will crumble a bit. For uniform slices, please be patient :)
