Italian Meatballs - – Great Grandma Lizzie's Recipe
INGREDIENTS
4-5 slices thick crusty bread like french or italian 1 cup milk 2 eggs 1/3 cup grated parmesan ¼ cup minced fresh parsley 4 peeled garlic cloves/ I use 4 tbsp minced garlic in oil 1 tablespoon olive oil 2 tsp salt 1 tsp black pepper ¼ tsp ground allspice 1 tbsp dried basil 1 tbsp dried oregano 2 lbs. Ground chuck 1 lb. Ground pork Marinara
DIRECTIONS
1. leave your bread out overnight on a tray covered with a paper towel allowing it to dry out as much as possible . Cut it with a Serrated knife in approx. ½ inch cubes and put aside in a bowl.
2. In a large bowl combine all ingredients except meats and mix well with beater.
3. Add bread cubes to the bowl mixture and toss well.
4. Break up the meat and add to the mixture and mix well and combine all ingredients.
5. Shape into 2-in. Balls and place in a shallow baking pan.
6. Bake, uncovered, at 400° for 20-25 minutes or until the meatballs are no longer pink; drain.
7. In a large saucepan, heat marinara sauce; add the meatballs and heat through.
8. Serve with Marinara or over pasta with Garlic Bread.
