Ingredients
Ice cubes 1 c half and half 1/2 c salt (I used sea salt) 2 tbsp sugar 1/2 tsp vanilla extract 1 pint-size ziplock bag 1 gallon-size ziplock bag flavor ingredients - see below
Instructions
Fill 1 gallon sized ziploc bag up half way with ice cubes. Add 1/2 cup salt and shake.
In a small ziploc bag combine half and half, sugar and extract. Place the small bag inside of the large bag and seal tight.
Shake vigorously for about 5 minutes. I used a pair of oven mitts to keep our hands from getting too cold.
When the cream has turned to ice-cream add in flavors of your choice.
Pecan Peach -- 1/4 cup each of chopped pecans and chopped peach pieces
Chocolate Chip Mint -- exchange vanilla for 1/2 tsp of mint extract. Add in 1/4 cup chocolate chips after cream has turned into ice-cream.
The other possibilities are endless: other extracts fruit, nuts, candies, etc.
When you have combined the ice-cream with the flavorings you can put the ice-cream into the freezer to harden further.
