Grandma's Homemade Bread
3 cups lukewarm water 1/4 cup sugar 2 packets of yeast 1/3 cup cooking oil 1 tbsp salt 7-8 cups all purpose flour
In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water with sugar. Allow it to bloom for 10 minutes, then add the oil, salt and flour, 2 cups at a time.
When dough is desired consistency, knead it until the dough is smooth, and forms a slightly sticky ball, adding a little flour as needed.
Cover the bowl of dough with a dish towel and allow it to double. This should take about an hour.
After it has risen, punch the dough down. Divide it into 2 separate balls and form into 2 loaves.
Place the dough into 2 prepared 9x5 loaf pans and allow to rise once again (covered with a dish towel) until the dough is slightly above the pan -- this took about 1 hour for me.
Bake at 375 for 25-35 minutes. Remove from pan and allow to cool on a rack.
