German Chocolate Pecan Pie Bars
Ingredients
3 cups pecans 1 3/4 cups flour 3/4 cup powdered sugar 3/4 cup cold butter 1/4 cup cocoa 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips 3/4 cup brown sugar 3/4 cup light corn syrup 1/4 cup melted butter 3 eggs 1 cup coconut
Preheat oven to 350F.
Line a 9x13 pan with foil and spray with baking spray.
In a bowl combine the flour, powdered sugar, cocoa and cold butter until mixture resembles rough crumbs.
Press the mixture in the bottom of the baking pan, making sure that you also press some of the mixture slightly up the sides (about 1/4 of an inch)
Bake for approximately 15 minutes. Immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the baked layer when it comes out of the oven. Allow to sit for a few minutes, and then spread the melted chips evenly over the entire baked layer.
Allow to cool for approximately a half hour.
Combine pecans and coconut in a large bowl.
In another bowl combine the melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, and corn syrup. Add this mixture to the pecan mixture.
Spread the pecan/coconut mixture over top of the cooled chocolate chip layer.
Bake for 20 minutes in a 350F.
Allow to cool before lifting the bars out of the pan and cutting into squares.
