Fresh Tomato Basil Soup

This would go well with our 7-up biscuits.
Ingredients
1/2 cup butter 1/2 cup diced onions 6 cloves garlic 1/2 cup flour 2 teaspoons sugar 12 medium tomatoes, peeled, seeded, and diced fine 2 cups chicken or beef broth 1 tablespoon minced parsley 12 torn fresh basil leaves 1 teaspoon thyme 2 1/2 teaspoons salt 1/2 teaspoon pepper
In large saucepan, over medium heat, saute onion and garlic in butter until onion
is soft. Stir in flour and sugar until blended. Add tomatoes and continue to cook for 10 minutes longer.
Put tomato mixture into food processor or blender and process until smooth. Add
tomato mixture to broth. Stir in parsley, basil, thyme, salt, and pepper.
Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer 45 minutes or until thick and creamy.
