Ingredients
1 can 28oz vegetarian baked beans (I use Bush's) 1 stick butter 1/3 cup packed brown sugar 1/4 to 1/2 cup real bacon bits 1T Worcestershire sauce 1/3 cup sweet BBQ sauce 1/2 cup fresh chopped sweet onion
Directions:
1. Remove the sauce at the top of the can of baked beans (the additions from the recipe ingredients will more than make up for it)
2. Sauté the onion in 1/2 a stick of butter
3. When onion is translucent, add baked beans, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, BBQ sauce, and bacon bits. Stir gently over a low heat.
4. Add the rest of the butter and stir.
Note - once again this is a recipe I have been making for many, many years. I now adjust ingredients up or down to taste. But this is a good beginning. Also, I use vegetarian baked beans because the sauce is thicker.
