Every week one of our local grocery store has a Buy One Get Two Free meat sale -- this week I picked up three packages of petite sirloin steaks for a grand total of $8.
Each package is just perfect (and then some) for Mr Mom and I. I thought it would be a good idea to show you the different ways you can vary up the meals with this kind of store deal.
Below is Recipe #1 - Citrus Pepper Steak
Ingredients
2 petite sirloin steaks 1/2 cup Catalina salad dressing juice and zest of one orange 3 green onions, chopped 1/2 tsp black pepper 1/2 tsp garlic powder
Directions
Combine all ingredients, except for steak together in a bowl. Reserve 1/4 cup for later.
Marinate the steaks in remaining sauce, in a glass bowl, covered in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
I cooked our steak on our cast iron grill on top of the stove. You could also barbecue it, or cook it under the broiler in your oven.
To cook under the broiler -- place steaks on a cooking sheet about 3-4 inches under the broiler for about 5-8 minutes on each side depending on the thickness and desired level of pinkness.
Heat remaining sauce and spoon over steak when serving. Garnish with fresh orange slices.
