Who needs those store-bought boxes of hamburger helper when its so easy to pull something similar together with fresh ingredients without all the preservatives and additives. Here's a Chili Casserole that proves my point:
1 lb ground beef 1 small onion chopped 1 (15 oz) can kidney beans (drained and rinsed) 1 (15 oz) can stewed or diced tomatoes 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce 1/4 tsp garlic powder salt and pepper to taste chili powder to taste (optional) 2 cups cooked bow-tie pasta
1/2 cup shredded cheese
Cook pasta according to package directions, drain and set aside.
Brown hamburger and onions in a skillet. Drain excess grease. Add in tomatoes, tomato sauce and kidney beans. Mix well. Add seasonings, and then season to taste.
Add in cooked pasta. Combine ingredients well.
Pour into a 9x9 casserole dish. Sprinkle cheese over top. Bake at 350F for 20 minutes to heat through and melt cheese.
