Apple Crisp Pie
1 9" pie shell, unbaked 7 medium apples, pared and sliced 1/2 cup white sugar 3 tbsp flour 1 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp nutmeg or cloves pinch of salt 1/2 cup chopped walnuts 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/3 cup flour 1 cup quick cooking oats 1/2 cup butter
Toss apples with white sugar, walnuts, 3 tbsp flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Coat well and place apples in the bottom of the pie shell.
Melt the butter and add in oatmeal, 1/3 cup flour, and brown sugar. Stir until mixture is crumbly.
Sprinkle the crumb mixture over top of the apples.
Bake at 375 for about 50 minutes.
*Tip: Cover the edges of the pie shell with foil before baking, and remove it about 30 minutes into the baking time. This will help prevent the edges from over browning.
Serve as is or with a big scoop of vanilla ice-cream!
