All Natural Simmering Potpourri
Making your house smell great doesn't mean you have to spray the air with chemicals, or purchase expensive oils that seem to be all the rage right now. Simply making sure you don't waste something perfectly re-usable and adding a few touches will do the trick.
First -- never waste apples or oranges, lemons, limes etc that are past their peak. Simply slice them up and dehydrate them. Store them in airtight bags. If they don't get eaten up for snacks by the little guys in your house, then add a few of them to a simmering pot of water, with some much loved spices and sit back and let them do their work. Your house will smell wonderful.
Second - stock up on inexpensive holiday spices at your local dollar store. It won't break the bank, and a little goes a long way!
Keep the stove on low as it simmers, and add water as needed when it evaporates. Do not leave it unattended, and if you have little ones around, its best to keep it on the back burner not the front.
Experiment with what you add in - choose the scents you love.
