2 cups all purpose flour 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon baking soda 3/4 c unsweetened cocoa 2 cups sugar 1 cup vegetable oil 1 cup hot black coffee 1 cup milk 2 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Sift dry ingredients together. Add oil, coffee, milk. Mix at medium for 2 minutes. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix at medium for 2 minutes. (Batter will be thin.) Pour into two greased and floured 9 in cake pans. Bake at 325 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Cool cakes completely before frosting.
While the cake is baking, begin preparing the frosting.
1 c milk 5 tablespoons flour 1/2 c softened butter 1/2 c shortening 1 c sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cook the milk and flour in a sauce pan until it is very, very thick. (Mine looked like really thick paste) Cover the mixture and put in the fridge until completely chilled. Then mix milk/flour mixture will the other ingredients and mix for 10 FULL minutes.
