Homemade Egg Rolls
Ingredients
1 pkg of egg roll wrappers * 2 cups shredded cabbage and carrot ** 1 lb ground pork 1 tsp ground ginger 1 tsp garlic powder 1/4 tsp Chinese Five Spice powder (optional) 1 tbsp soy sauce 2 tbsp flour 2 tbsp water oil for deep frying
*I have always found them in the vegetable section of my super market ** the easiest and quickest way to do this is to buy a package of pre-shredded coleslaw mix
Place shredded cabbage and carrots in a large bowl.
Mix together water and flour in a small bowl to paste consistency and set aside.
Cook ground pork with spices and soy sauce until all pink is gone. Drain, and add to the cabbage mixture and combine well.
Lay out the egg roll wrappers one at a time in a diamond shape.
Place about 1/4 to 1/3 cup of the mixture in the center of the wrapper. Fold up the bottom corner of the wrapper and roll tightly for 1/2 a turn.
Fold in the two side corners, and then continue rolling your egg roll.
Take a small amount of the flour pasta and place it on the last corner to seal the wrapper together.
